Last year I finished up at Oracle – having worked with many amazing corporate marketers across the country, and almost immediately I commenced a few months leading the marketing for another company – getting stuck into all aspects of business growth and development.
So when I saw this quote from Michael Miraflor recently it really clarified the differences between the two spaces, two types of work – yet the same name, without diminishing either.
‘There is an incredible difference between people who are, let’s say, growth marketers, and people who do marketing on a corporate ladder. Nearly everything about the nature of the work, the skill set, and the transferable skills are different, yet all self-identify as “Marketer.” ‘
