Design: Niphal, a Website for Bad Christian Design

I used to run a website called Niphal. In my mind, there was a lot of bad Christian design and bad design by Christian organisations in general. I wanted to raise the profile of good Christian design. I think it worked, at least within the Christian community that I moved in and the circles that I was introduced to as a result.

I used a hand made php website with a single unprotected page inserting data straight into the database through a web form… the URL was a little obfuscated but not really. I had no idea what I was doing clearly.

It ran for a couple of years, I had a group of people I would mail to on a weekly basis. ‘To: me, bcc: everyone’. Apparently this was email marketing. I didn’t realise it at the time, I was just trying to keep people informed in case they didn’t check the website.

I met many people and I am still in contact with a few of them thanks to Niphal. I’ve even worked with people like Ben Beilharz, Mike McKenna since talking with them.
